It is, for the most part, a very Marvel kind of day as we kick off our Geek Week, but before we get to the MCU, there are some masterful other things to look forward to today.

With the first half of Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation debuting on Netflix later this month, Dark Horse Comics today releases the first issue of a tie-in miniseries which serves as a lead-in to the new animated series. He-Man has always been one of my favorite properties, dating back to when I was a little kid, collecting as many of the Masters of the Universe toy line as I could. I’m pretty excited for this new series, which will pick up where the original 1980s cartoon left off.

I think the most fun I’ll have is catching which of the original CHARACTERS end up making the cut of both the comic book and the new cartoon.

As always, I’m buying my comics digitally, through Comixology. Most of the week’s new books are listed over at the PreviewsWorld website, though DC Comics’ new releases can be found on their own website. Let’s take a look at what new comics I’ll be reading this week.

BOOM! Studios
Buffy the Vampire Slayer 27

Dark Horse Comics
Masters of the Universe: Revelation 1

DC Comics
Crime Syndicate 5
Green Lantern 4
Justice League 64
Justice League Infinity 1
Suicide Squad 5
Wonder Girl 2

DC Digital Comics
The Joker Presents: A Puzzle Box 3

While much of my comic book reading comes courtesy of DC Comics, there’s a good amount Marvel content that will be on my TV screen this week.

The biggest release comes on Friday, when Black Widow finally sees the light of day. Originally scheduled to hit theaters in May 2020, Marvel Studios and Disney pushed the movie back a couple of times in order to get it in front of audiences in theaters. I’m still shocked it took them so long to give Scarlett Johansson a starring vehicle of her own, considering she’s been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2010. The movie will also be available as a premium purchase on Disney+, which means I can watch it without having to go back to a movie theater.

Before Black Widow gets her movie debut this week, though, we’ll have the penultimate episode of the MCU Disney+ series LOKI, and another great recap from ProjectBlue.

On Sunday, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW returns with a new episode, after taking last week off. I like to believe the team sat back and decided to watch INDEPENDENCE DAY instead of having another adventure.

And last, but certainly not least, the SONG OF THE WEEK will be back with another great music selection from Joe.

Finally, it’s been 25 years s turned on all the fans and joined Kevin Nash and Scott Hall to form the New World Order at WCW’s 1996 Bash at the Beach. It was a momentous occasion that turned the world of professional wrestling upside down! Let’s relive the moment as we head out to enjoy more geeky things.
