The one comic I’ve been waiting for, dating back almost two years now, finally debuts to make this an awesome new comic book day!
I’ve been looking forward to the new Checkmate series from writer Brian Bendis and artist Alex Maleev since the EVENT LEVIATHAN series back in 2019. There have been a lot of changes to the world of the DC Comics universe over that year and a half, and Leviathan hasn’t really been mentioned since, but Bendis and Maleev are bringing it back with this new series, featuring favorites like Lois Lane, Green Arrow, Manhunter and others. I still say I want Bendis to write a Green Arrow or a Manhunter book on his own, but this will suffice until I get that.
DC Comics is also kicking off the INFINITE FRONTIER this week with the first issue of the new 6-issue miniseries from Joshua Williamson as Barry Allen, President Superman and others begin to chart the new-look multiverse after the battles with Perpetua and the BATMAN WHO LAUGHS. Maybe they can help us figure out how Checkmate and Leviathan fit into this new continuity.
