Will you be wearing a costume based on your favorite comic book character this year? All the best costume ideas come out on New Comic Book Day!

There’s no doubt about what time of year it is looking at this list of new releases. I’ve picked up three new comic books this week that fit in well with the Halloween theme, even if it just means having Halloween in the title. First up, it’s a return to the world of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s classic BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. I’ve always loved Tim Sale’s Batman and I imagine this issue will be a beauty.

DC Comics has also released a pair of first issues of miniseries featuring the creatures that go bump in the night. DC vs. Vampires is a pretty self-explanatory title. And Task Force Z revisits some of the villains killed in the Arkham Asylum explosion that kicked off the Infinite Frontier – better known as A-DAY – reanimating them under the direction of Red Hood to be a newer, scarier version of the Suicide Squad.

Both books are written by Matthew Rosenberg (along with James Tynion IV on DC vs. Vampires), who is doing some great stuff on the new digital series THE JOKER PRESENTS: A PUZZLE BOX.

As always, I’m buying my comics digitally, through Comixology. Most of the week’s new books are listed over at the PreviewsWorld website, though DC Comics’ new releases can be found on their own website. And the DC Digital Comics are available through DC Universe Infinite. Let’s take a look at what new comics I’ll be reading this week.
