It’s my favorite week of the year – it’s my birthday week! What better way to celebrate than with new comic books and other geeky things?

I’m picking up a lot of first issues this week. It’s always fun to get in on the ground floor of a new ongoing or limited series, but four new series and one special may be overdoing it. I haven’t decided yet.

The biggest release, I think, is Dark Knights of Steel, the story that puts the heroes of the DC Universe back into medieval times. Written by Tom Taylor, this would have been considered an ELSEWORLDS story back in the 1990s. I’m actually surprised that this isn’t a Black Label book. Putting Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman into a GAME OF THRONES-like setting seems like it would be perfect for a Black Label series. Regardless, Taylor has a lot of goodwill based on his works for DC Comics, so I’m excited to see how this story plays out.

The publisher also released this week another limited series featuring a relatively obscure character written by TOM KING. It’s a good bet that The Human Target, Christopher Chance, will at various times be unlikable and he may have some PTSD from a war-like event. It’s just a guess.

As always, I’m buying my comics digitally, through Comixology. Most of the week’s new books are listed over at the PreviewsWorld website, though DC Comics’ new releases can be found on their own website. And the DC Digital Comics are available through DC Universe Infinite. Let’s take a look at what new comics I’ll be reading this week.
