It’s an historic day in Washington D.C., but that doesn’t mean we forget about why Wednesdays are great! It’s New Comic Book Day!

This week brings us a new slate of FUTURE STATE books – including our first second issue! – and I’m hoping we get moments closer to the last BATCH of issues I read, which were a lot of fun, rather than the first two, which were a lot less so.

It took three weeks into this mess of a special event before we get a glimpse of the future versions of both Kal-El and Princess Diana, which is a little ridiculous. Both have moved on from being protectors of Earth, but will their new job descriptions prove to be as enthralling as their previous ones?

I will say that after the various comments about Dick Grayson’s state of mind in this far-off continuity, I’m very much looking forward to the Nightwing issue. I hope this will be in the “so-bad-it’s-good” category, but one can never tell with such things.

Outside of Future State, Tom King gets second billing this week, with two of his Black Label series continuing on. While the first issue of BATMAN/CATWOMAN left me a little cold, King typically manages to eventually bring out something great. And his RORSCHACH has me intrigued.

Let’s take a look at the all-DC slate of comics I’m reading this week:

Batman/Catwoman 2
DCeased: Dead Planet 7
Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman 1
Future State: The Next Batman 2
Future State: Nightwing 1
