Today, we celebrate the release of a comic book that’s been 80 years in the making. Today sees the release of Action Comics 1,000, celebrating the legacy of comicdom’s greatest hero – SUPERMAN! And there are a lot of other great books out this week, too, making this New Comic Book Day one to remember!

Just like last week, I’m still working my way through last week’s books, but I’ll happily add more to my pile.

For a complete list of this week’s releases, remember to check out the Previews website.

I’m purchasing all my books digitally through Comixology (except for Action Comics 1,000 – I’ll be stopping into a comic shop for a physical copy or 10), but if you want to find your local comic shop, click here.

Let’s take a look at what I’m buying:

Dark Horse Comics

Black Hammer: Age of Doom 1 – Lucy Weber is the new Black Hammer, and the mystery of where our heroes are and what’s happening to them deepens in this continuation of Jeff Lemire’s new universe.

DC Comics

Action Comics 1,000 – This giant-sized special issue has a ton of creators working on it, including the first DC Comics work of BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS
Batman 45 – Booster Gold visits Batman to give him a wedding present, but it’s Booster, so things don’t go so well.
Batman: Creature of the Night 3 – Kurt Busiek’s “real-world” take on Batman continues.
Justice League 43 – The League goes up against Deathstroke in the finale of Christopher Priest’s JUSTICE LOST arc.
Super Sons 15
Superman 45

IDW Publishing

Ghostbusters: Crossing Over 2
