It’s the fifth Wednesday of January, but it’s not at all a light pile for this New Comic Book Day – the best day of the week!
This is getting ridiculous. If I was so inclined to pick buy all the books I want to get – or have been regularly getting – this week, I’d be dropping more than $50 on a dozen books, almost all of which are priced at $3.99 or more. Very few of these books have the substance to make the price tag worth it.
So, I’m officially dropping some books this week. Or just not picking some things up. The JUSTICE LEAGUE ANNUAL? Pass. BOOKS OF MAGIC and JUSTICE LEAGUE ODYSSEY? They weren’t holding my interest enough for me to spend the money. That just saved me $13. WONDER WOMAN and BATGIRL are on the bubble, but they miss the axe this week because they’re starting new arcs and I’m willing to give them the chance.
What am I looking forward to this week, then? HEROES IN CRISIS should be fun, and it has a tie-in with THE FLASH ANNUAL, which should lead in to the Flash-Batman crossover next month as well. And ACTION COMICS has been great; this month, the Kobra Cult is going after Jimmy Olsen and I can’t wait.
