The Netflix Marvel Universe has gotten dramatically smaller this year, after the service cancelled DAREDEVIL, LUKE CAGE and IRON FIST earlier this year – despite strong final seasons from all three. There are still two shows remaining, and one of them returns in just one week.
The first season of THE PUNISHER was violent, but it was also a great examination of PTSD and the psychological damage that happens from wars both foreign and domestic. Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle may have gotten through the struggles of the first season, but his war isn’t over.
The war will probably end soon, though. While the second season of THE PUNISHER will debut on Netflix next Friday, it’s pretty much a lock that there won’t be a third season.
Enjoy it while it lasts, I suppose. Just one more to go…
