A paranoid industrial groove.

You don’t go into a song called “Slaves of Fear” without expecting some tension. And you don’t listen to a HEALTH song without expecting a heavy blast of noise. But the latest single from the band does an excellent job of fusing their aggressive soundscapes with a deeply catchy industrial pulse. Jake Duzsik’s vocals arrive with a light touch, another nice counter to the quaking arrangement.

Lyrically, it’s pretty much all right there in the title. Duzsik sings about how humanity is shackled by its own insecurities and horrors, both real and imagined. “Slaves of fear/From the moment we’re born/We want to be different/But we don’t want to try too hard,” he sings. When those words connect with you though, you could always hide in the percussive blasts that follow.

VOL. 4 :: SLAVES OF FEAR by HEALTH arrives on Feb. 8, 2019.
