A heavy-stomping rocker from the Welsh trio.
There are few things that The Joy Formidable does better than pummeling rock tunes. It’s been their reputation ever since they arrived with the The Big Roar in 2011. It combines the shredding swagger of Queens of the Stone Age with Ritzy Bryan’s quick-footed, breathless vocal performance.
In between her verses, Bryan shows her soloing skills are intact and as strong as ever, blazing paths up and down the neck of her guitar. Meanwhile, Rhydian Davies and Matthew Thomas conjure up an earthquake of a rhythm section, moving like the footsteps of an angry giant. This song is meant to be played LOUD.
“The Wrong Side” can be found on The Joy Formidable’s new album, AAARTH, out on Sept. 28.
