Sometimes, it’s the simplest songs that stand out the most. If you have a strong enough melody, then you just need an acoustic guitar and sweet vocals to create something special. That is exactly what Kehlani has done on “Honey.”
Kehlani’s new song finds her in love and using romance as a way out of her troubles. “All the pretty girls in the world/But I’m in this space with you/Colored out the line/I came to find, my fire was fate with you,” she sings, the passion and emotion pouring out of every word. As for the music, the stop-start, jazzy guitar riff is all that’s needed to create a wonderful groove. It’s a great follow-up to her debut SweetSexySavage, released earlier this year.
