The Super Bowl may be the culmination of the football season, but it’s also a kick-off for the waiting game – what we see here will prepare us for the months to come. We definitely have some things to look forward to after this big game.

Stranger Things Season 2

The first trailer for the second season of the weird hit Netflix series warns us that “The World Is Turning Upside Down.” The first season brought everyone back to the 1980s for a supernatural tale that had everyone binging. The second season should cause everyone to spend a weekend with those cute kids, but we have to wait a while, as it won’t drop on Netflix til Halloween.

Nintendo Switch

If you were on the fence about the new console out on March 3 (that’s less than a month away!), Nintendo hopes to sway you with their first ever Super Bowl TV spot. It’s a lengthy look at several games (including the new Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild) and how the system will work, allowing players to “Switch” between using it as a console and a handheld. I admit to being more intrigued about the system after seeing the commercial. But knowing how likely shortages of new systems will be on release weekend, I doubt I’ll be Switch-ing right when it debuts.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

The Super Bowl spot for the next Guardians movie shows some new footage from the other trailers and hits that sense of whimsy that everyone is expecting, giving Rocket Raccoon and Drax a little more time to shine. The first weekend in May should be a very good time for Marvel Studios.

Honda CRV

In case you missed it, this spot highlighting yearbook photos of stars like Tina Fey, Jimmy Kimmel, Amy Adams and Robert Redford talked about going out and doing what you wanted to do with your life. Hidden among the stars was Marvel Comics’ main man, Stan Lee. It’s very random, but it’s always nice when Stan gets shown some love in the mainstream.

Baywatch

The greatest syndicated TV show of the 1990s that took place on a beach is coming back with a big screen reboot later this year, and the spot shown during the game tonight makes me think they won’t take themselves too seriously. And that’s a good thing. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron seem to have great chemistry together and people run in slow motion. I don’t know what else you can ask for.

I Wonder Why…

How does DC Comics NOT have a new Wonder Woman trailer tonight? They need a GREAT showing with the Gal Gadot-led film to boost them into November’s Justice League and they had nothing. What a dumb and disappointing decision. Almost as disappointing as the Patriots winning another Super Bowl.
