It’s the final New Comic Book Day of the first half of the year. We can only hope that the second half of 2020 is better than the first. We should, at least, get more comics than we did in the first half.
As the comic book industry begins to come back from the shutdown, the DC Comics daily digital initiative has really buoyed some less-than-stellar weeks. And the 99-cent price point has meant that my weekly comics pull has nearly doubled without the price going up. Unlike the usual digital offerings, books like BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHTS and SUPERMAN: MAN OF TOMORROW are full-sized stories, though not necessarily within the continuity framework.
I’m also excited about the return of two comics featuring some of my favorite licensed characters. BOOM!’s ANGEL & SPIKE comes back as the two frenemy vampires are still recovering from the whole Hellmouth crossover. And the second issue of the IDW-Dark Horse crossover TRANSFORMERS VS. TERMINATOR finally releases.
A full list of what’s available this week can be found at Previews’ website. Though, that won’t be true much longer, now that DC Comics will sever ties with Diamond. And, as usual, I am buying and downloading my comics from Comixology. If you want to find a physical store near you, though, check out the online Comic Shop Locator.
Let’s take a look at what I bought this week:
