Yeah, the Eagles beat the Patriots in what was a pretty great Super Bowl, but how about those movie trailers during the commercials?!?!

Obviously, the sneak peaks at the coming year or so worth of movies is the big story for THIS website, and there’s a lot to be excited about based on the trailers that played during breaks in the game. Let’s take a look at what got us most excited:

Avengers: Infinity War

I don’t know how much new footage we got here, but it doesn’t matter. the fourth Avengers film is looking awesome, bringing everyone together to fight Thanos. Marvel Studios has been building to this film for 10 years now, and I can’t imagine they’re going to disappoint. AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is due out May 4.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Sticking with Disney properties, and May releases, apparently, we got our glimpse at the next Star Wars anthology movie. With the focus on a young Han Solo, his little corner of the original trilogy will be explored. Expect younger versions of Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian – in a damn fine looking coat – to give some back story to the Solo legend before Luke and Obi-Wan come upon them looking for a ride. SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY will be released Memorial Day weekend.

Skyscraper

The synopsis for this Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson action movie on IMDb says, “Plot kept under wraps.” But from the trailer we saw tonight, I think it’s safe to say that The Rock is doing his best John McClain in a skyscraper built in an Asian country. Welcome to the party, pal. The Rock always brings his A-game, so I’m betting this Legendary Entertainment flick should be fun. And Neve Campbell’s in it? I’m game. SKYSCRAPER’s release is set for July 13.

The Cloverfield Paradox

This was a surprise! The third movie in the CLOVERFIELD universe had a trailer during the game announcing that it would be available to watch on Netflix when the game was over! Out of nowhere! Go watch it while you continue to peruse the Geekery!

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Why do they keep going back to that damned island? It never ends well! I guess it ends well for Chris Pratt’s bank account and box office returns. The latest Jurassic movie will continue the plot from the 2015 film, with the island’s dormant volcano springing to life. When Ian Malcolm said, “Life finds a way,” I don’t think he was talking about volcanos… JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM will hit theaters on June 22.

Dundee Austrialian Tourism

In one of the greatest troll jobs ever, people were teased to a new Crocodile Dundee movie starring Danny McBride as the famous Australian’s son, with Chris Hemsworth as his guide. When the spot debuted during the game, it turns out… it was a tourism ad to visit Australia! It’s a shame, because I probably would have watched the movie…
