Tuesdays bring the release of new books and movies to keep us all occupied. Let’s take a look at what’s now available for our consumer entertainment!
New Digital Releases
Transformers: The Last Knight – The stakes keep getting higher for the Robots in Disguise, as they look to Earth’s past to save Cybertron’s future (Blu-Ray/DVD Release: Sept. 26).
New on Blu-Ray/DVD
The Mummy – Tom Cruise’s reboot of the Universal movie monsters franchise where an ancient princess is awakened by a tomb raider.
Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie – Two fourth graders hypnotize their principal in order to turn him into the hero of their home-made comic book.
New Books
David Bowie: A Life by Dylan Jones – The author takes stories from 180 interviews with Bowie’s friends, rivals, lovers and collaborators to craft an oral history of the singer.
The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye by David Lagenrcrantz – Continuing Steig Larsson’s Lisbeth Salander stories with the second book after Larsson’s death. I was never really a fan of the books (the first two read like extended rape fantasies to me and I stopped there), but they certainly have a following.
Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History by Katy Tur – While Hillary Clinton’s new book, “What Happened” also comes out today, this will likely be the less frustrating – and less boring – book about the 2016 election.
